The Frequently Asked

Dummies do try our patience so.

Dum-de-dum.

Q: What is Entropy?
A: Entropy is a scanlation group.

Q: What are scanlations?
A: Scanlation is a word that fuses the terms Scan and Translation. Scanlations are the end result for when a manga (graphic novel/comic book) from Japan, Korea or China is released on-line in English for download onto your computer.

Q: Who founded Entropy and why?
A: Jlindgren and riseabove77 decided one day that there simply weren’t enough groups that did both quality shoujo/josei and shounen/seinen scanlations. Hence Entropy was founded.

Q: What projects do you do?
A: We scanlate projects that various staff members want to scanlate. The only real rules we adhere to is that what we scanlate is not licensed or currently being scanlated by another group.

Q: How often are you going to release a chapter?
A: We release as fast as we can, but scanlating can be a long process, so please be patient.

Q: I don’t want to have to visit your site every day to see if you’ve made a release and I don’t always check manga release tracking sites, is there another way to know when you make a release?
A: Yes, MegKF announces our releases in her yahoo group, she also announces her own releases, TrapNest’s and sometimes Korean-Manhwa’s. You can join her yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MegKF_group. All you have to do is set it to Special Notice and you’ll only receive her update e-mails when one of the aforementioned groups makes a release.

Q: Where can I download your projects?
A: Come to our IRC channel #entropy@irc.irchighway.net. If you don’t know what IRC is, please see the IRC guide at the bottom of this page.

Q: I’ve never used IRC, what do I do?
A: Try reading our IRC guide.

Q: What are the rules in your IRC channel?
A: No @find for non-entropy projects, no listing the ops, no spamming the channel, no recruiting for another team, no unnecessary scripts.

Q: There is a project I would love for you to scanlate, is it all right to suggest it?
A: If there is something you would like us to scanlate, we are always open to suggestions. E-mail us at info@entropy-manga.com or drop by our IRC channel, #entropy@irchighway.net, and PM an op OR take a visit to the forum. There’s a part just for suggestions under Projects.

Q: I want to help, $is there anything I can do?
A: We are always looking for Japanese and Korean translators, experienced editors and QCers, and scanners. PM an op; I promise they won’t bite. (This is actually a lie)

Q: I want to scanlate one (or more) of your series into another language. What do I do?
A: If you are requesting on behalf of an established group, chances are we will say yes. Just shoot a PM to Jlindgren for shounen queries and riseabove77 for shoujo queries or email info@entropy-manga.com.

Q:I love one of your scanlation projects. Can I host it for direct download?
A: Since we will offer http downloads from our own site, the answer to that depends on who’s asking. Again, PM either Jlindgren or riseabove77 or email any queries to info@entropy-manga.com.EDIT:We do not allow sites that host licensed manga to host our releases, so don’t bother asking.

Q: I would love to purchase a copy of one of your projects, where can I get it?
A: We usually get our manga at Kinokuniya or Book-Off. If you don’t live near any of those bookstores, then try amazon.co.jp or jpqueen.com. The Amazon shipping is a little pricey, but the books arrive in two weeks and in great condition. You can also purchase Korean manwha/hwa? at www.hanbooks.com. Alternately, visit Japan!

Q: Can I link your website on my site? And will you link back?
A: So long as it’s a relevant website (i.e. having at least SOMETHING to do with manga), then sure. But make sure you let us know first.
